PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

 

WELCOME TO WEST JEFFERSON HIGH SCHOOL!  We are looking forward to providing an excellent educational experience for all students.  School will be one of the most powerful influences in your child’s life.  As a result, a great responsibility has been placed on us to encourage and motivate students to maximize their learning.

            All of the teachers at WJHS meet the State of Idaho criteria for being Highly Qualified in their respective disciplines.  Each teacher will teach with expertise the content of his or her curriculum and each student will be encouraged to succeed in gaining an increased knowledge of each curriculum.   Students will be asked to be college and career ready in reading, writing, speaking and listening, and in demonstrating a command of Standard English grammar.  Students will be challenged to think critically.  Students will be treated with respect and dignity with the expectation that they can meet high academic expectations.  As parents of these fine students, we ask for your support in encouraging your child to meet and exceed these learning standards. It is essential that both our parents and school personnel work cooperatively to insure student success. Please monitor your child’s efforts, attitudes, and learning progress. Be involved in your child’s educational process and help us provide security for his or her future.

            Also, encourage your child to become actively involved in extra-curricular school activities.  Sports, clubs, plays, pep band, and general school activities help students build true self-esteem by helping them become involved and accomplished in all areas of their life.
